Christmas Sermon Series
November 28 - December 24

Every December, in many places we go to hear songs proclaiming Jesus' birth.  There are songs playing in stores, on the radio and television that someone chose because they are nostalgic.  Sometimes, it is jarring to walk through a store and hear an explicitly Christian testimony playing festively over the sound system.  Little do people realize, some of those songs contain a message that can forever change their lives.!

One writer said, "All Christmas music can be plotted along a spectrum.  On the one end, we have 'religious reverence and Christian service to God' and 'winter-related nonsense' on the other.  If 'Baby It's Cold Outside' and 'Jingle Bells' sit on the 'winter-related nonsense' end, then 'O Holy Night' pretty much sits exactly opposite it."  There is a compelling line from "O Holy Night" that speaks to the world in which we live...

O Holy night! The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees; O hear the Angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born

The weary world rejoices...we live in a time when people are badly needing good news.  Jesus' birth and incarnation provide the Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Faith everyone desperately desires.  This Christmas season at Faithbridge, we celebrate Advent beginning Sunday, November 28 and finish on Christmas Eve.  Each week, we will unpack the gifts of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Faith that Jesus' birth provides to all who believe in Him.  It will be an opportunity for those who know Him to rejoice and for those who don't to personally come to know Jesus Christ.

The themes of our worship on the Sundays of Christmas will be:

  • November 28 - Jesus' birth promises HOPE
  • December 5 - Jesus' birth promises PEACE
  • December 12 - Jesus' birth promises JOY
  • December 19 - Jesus' birth promises LOVE
  • December 24 - Jesus' birth promises FAITH
